Bipolar Disorder

Many of you have probably heard a lot lately about Bipolar Disorder, which is also in the Mood Disorder category. Bipolar Disorder is characterized by extreme highs followed by extreme lows. There is category of Bipolar Disorder called Cyclothymia, in which you experience the fluctuating highs and lows, but the lows are not severe enough to meet the criteria for a Major Depressive Episode and the highs are not sever enough to meet the criteria for Mania.

Bipolar Disorder responds well to medication, but finding the right medication and dosage can be tricky. I have had many clients who have tried several different medications before finding the right combination of drugs and dosage.
