I welcome you to my Counseling practice located in the heart of West Fort Worth.
I believe that counseling is not easily described in general statements. It varies depending on the personalities of the counselor and client, and the particular problems you bring forward. In fact, there are many different methods used to deal with the problems that you hope to address by going to a counselor.
I utilize a type of therapy known as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT). This type of therapy is a systematic, goal-oriented approach to problems; typically shorter in duration than other therapies.
CBT is based on the theory that thoughts, feelings and behaviors interact and utilizing specific techniques can create change. Those techniques vary depending on the presenting problem.
What You Need to Know About Counseling
If you decide to begin counseling it’s important to have the right frame of mind.
Counseling Is Not Like a Doctor’s Visit
Instead, it calls for a very active effort on your part. In order for the counseling to be most successful, you will have to work on things we talk about both during our sessions and at home.
Counseling Has Benefits and Risks
Counseling can have benefits and risks. Since counseling often involves discussing unpleasant aspects of your life, you may experience uncomfortable feelings like sadness, guilt, anger, frustration, loneliness, and helplessness. On the other hand, counseling has also been shown to have benefits such as, better relationships, solutions to specific problems, and significant reductions in feelings of distress. Counseling helps you make better decisions and promotes better mental health. By going to counseling you can address job and career concerns, educational decisions, mental and emotional health issues, and relationship problems. It is my pleasure to help you.
Thanks so much,
